Are your plants being affected by Mexican bean beetles? Here is a guide on how to identify and get rid of them:
Mexican bean beetles do damage to your plants by eating leaves and leaving skeletons of foliage. Besides beans, they will also eat pea, beet, squash and tomato plants.
As adults, they appear orange-yellow with dots, similar to a ladybug. As larvae, they are yellow and spiny, with black tips to the spines. Eggs are yellow and laid in clusters of 30 to 40 on the undersides of plant leaves.
To prevent and rid a plant of Mexican bean beetles, you should handpick larvae and beetles to destroy them. Frequently check the undersides of leaves to remove eggs.
